(Victoria, Texas) The Loyola University New Orleans men’s and women’s golf teams concluded day one of tournament action at the 2014 Claude Jacobs Invitational hosted by the University of Houston-Victoria.
Two Wolf Pack women ended in the top 20 after the first round of play at the The Club at Colony Creek. Freshman Megan Keck is tied for seventh overall after shooting a 74, just two over par. Freshman Sarah-Anne Smurlick is knotted at 16th with a score of 76.
On the men’s side, freshman Keith Burkard shot a 74 in the first round and a 76 in the second at Victoria Country Club, good for a combined 150 on the day and a tie for 17th individually.
As a team, the Wolf Pack women are in sixth place after the first round with a total score of 319, just four strokes out of a tie for fourth place. After scoring 329 in the first round and improving to 322 in the second, the Loyola men’s team sits 15th overall.
Tournament action continues tomorrow with a tee time scheduled for 9 a.m.
