NEW ORLEANS, La. – This week, the Loyola Wolfpack (13-8, 7-3) will compete in a pair of SSAC matches. The ‘Pack opens the week this Thursday night, hosting No. 19 Spring Hill (28-0, 11-0) in The DEN at 7 p.m. LU closes the week when they travel to Jackson, Miss. to take on the Belhaven Blazers (18-8, 5-6).
Loyola will be looking to make it two wins in a row after claiming a 3-0 victory over Xavier last Tuesday in The DEN. Freshman O’Neal McMullan collected a match-high 12 kills against Xavier with junior Kailey Tuthill (8) and sophomore Sabrina Stansberry (7) also made significant impacts. Junior Samantha Worsham had an outstanding performance, dishing out 27 assists and posting nine digs. Senior Amanda Oldani also scooped up 16 digs, while freshman Becca Burnett totaled 14.
Spring Hill enters the match going undefeated on the season. The Badgers are coming off a sweep of Huntington College on Tuesday. Spring Hill has recorded an impressive 8 sweeps in SSAC play. The offense has been solid all season long for the Badgers, as Spring Hill has three players with over 150 kills on the season, led by Yiting Cao’s 470. Taryn Nash leads the team in assists with 951 and is averaging 10.810 assists per set. Megan Haber is the leader in blocks, stuffing 82 total attempts this season.
Thursday is also “Shade Out Spring Hill” where the first 100 students will receive a free pair of sunglasses. The ‘Pack leads the all-time series 20-7 with the Badgers taking the last meeting 3-0.
