NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Loyola University New Orleans women’s volleyball team (20-10, 9-4 SSAC) will head east this week to take on conference foe University of Mobile (23-11, 7-4 SSAC) and Tougaloo College (6-16, 5-5 GCAC) for the final two matches of the regular season. This week’s events will begin with a match against the Rams in Mobile on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. (CST) and end with a Saturday 2 p.m. (CST) showdown against the Bulldogs in Tougaloo, Miss.

“The team is working hard on improving our consistency as we make the final push towards the postseason,” said head coach Tommy Harold.

Last weekend, the Wolfpack finished their regular season tournament schedule in grand fashion going undefeated in the Millsaps Volleyball Tournament, shutting out three of their four opponents. Loyola started the weekend by sweeping LeTourneau (25-11, 25-14, 25-9) and Legrange (25-18, 25-8, 25-17). Junior outside hitter Kailey Tuthill earned excellent stats following her stellar play racking up 36 kills for the weekend. Freshman O’Neal McMullan also added an impressive performance with double-digit kill numbers in three of the four matches played.

The Rams will be playing in their final conference matches of the year this week, when they take on Loyola Tuesday night and Spring Hill on Thursday. Mobile leads the all-time series 12-4, although the Wolfpack won the last two matches including one earlier this year. The Rams are led by junior outside hitter Kiara Gay who ranks 26th in the NAIA in kills (393) and 42nd in kills per set (3.480).

This is Loyola’s first matchup with Tougaloo College. The Bulldogs are led by junior outside hitter Dayane Souza with 112 kills on the season and averaging 1.7 kills per set. She ranks in the top 20 in the NAIA in two categories: 2nd in service aces per set (0.680) and 20th in digs per set (5.540).
