(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans (3-3) will meet up with SSAC foe University of Mobile (2-1) for a midweek doubleheader. The two teams will be playing back to back non-conference games starting at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Segnette Field.
The Wolf Pack opened the season by convincingly sweeping away Rust College in their three game set. However, they followed that up by losing three straight to Stillman College on the road, including a heartbreaking loss in the series finale as they gave up six runs in the bottom of the 7th to lose 9-8.
Junior Karson Cullins has been hot to start the season for Loyola. Cullins is hitting .500 for the young season with a team high two home runs to go along with eight runs and 10 RBI’s. Freshmen Britt Pellegrin and John Nicholson are tied for the team lead with 11 RBI’s. Nicholson is batting .529 through the first six games of the season.
The Rams opened their season this past weekend with a three game set against Talladega College. They won the first two games 8-2 and 4-1 before falling in the series finale 2-1.
Keith Granger is the Rams’ early leader after hitting a double and a home run and going 3 for 4 in the opening series. Braxton Hamil is the team leader with three runs and two RBI’s. On the pitching side Shane Ikner and Ryan Hines combined to pitch 13 innings and gave up a combine four runs in earning the two victories for Mobile.
The two teams will meet up again later in the season for a conference matchup in Mobile. The Wolf Pack will make the trip for a three game set on March 1st and 2nd.
