Wolf Pack host #9 Faulkner on Senior Day

Steve Davis will be honored on Senior Day before Wolf Pack take on Faulkner

(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball team will return to the court for a senior day matchup with ninth ranked Faulkner University. The game will tip off at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 16th at The Den.

The Wolf Pack will be honoring Steve Davis as the lone senior on this year’s squad. Davis is in his second season from Wangi Wangi, Australia and is averaging a career high 5.4 points and 3.7 rebounds this year.

This is the second meeting between the two schools as Faulkner came away with a 63-57 home victory in the first game. Robert Lovaglio had 16 points in the loss and Mason Ibert came off the bench to grab a team high eight rebounds. The Eagles had six scorers between eight and 10 points, led by Nick McHenry’s 10 points. Cyrille Sandjon had a team high seven rebounds as Faulkner led the entire game, staving off a late Wolf Pack rally.

Loyola (14-11, 8-7) comes into Saturday’s game having won five of their last eight games including a 58-48 victory over Spring Hill in their last time on the court. Cameron Hill provided 16 points and eight rebounds off the bench to lead the Wolf Pack. Robert Lovaglio scored 12 points while McCall Tomeny had 11 points and nine rebounds in the Wolf Pack victory.

Faulkner (23-4, 13-2) enters the game having won nine straight games, before losing on Thursday night to William Carey. The 95-72 loss to William Carey came in part due to 26 turnovers by the Eagles.

Lovaglio is the SSAC’s second leading scorer, averaging 20.6 points per game. Tomeny joins him in double figures with 14 points nightly. While Kyle Simmons averages 9.6 points, 2.7 assists and a team high 1.3 steals..

Jamarious Alderson leads a balanced team attack with 11.5 points a game. Sandjon scores 10.8 points a night while averaging a team high 6.4 rebounds a game.

Faulkner is in second place in the SSAC’s western division, a half game behind William Carey for the division lead. Loyola currently sits in a third place tie with Auburn Montgomery. Belhaven is a game back of the Wolf Pack and Mobile is a game and a half back.
