NEW ORLEANS, La. – Loyola University New Orleans men’s basketball standout Robert Lovaglio added another award to his season when the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities announced him to the Jesuit Honor Roll for his performance during the week of Feb. 20-26.
Lovaglio powered the Wolfpack to victories over William Carey and Mobile to clinch Loyola’s first SSAC West Division Title. For the week, the sophomore averaged 17 points, five rebounds, 2.5 assists, and one steal. He shot 52.4% from the field, 1-2 from beyond the arc, and 11-13 from the free throw line.
The Jesuit Honor Roll acknowledgement is his third of the season, previously winning during the weeks of November 21-27 and February 6-12. For his stellar efforts this past week, Lovaglio was also named SSAC Player of the Week.
Lovaglio’s presence continues to surge the late season rally by the ‘Pack, as they head into the conference tournament on a season high five game win streak. In addition, Loyola received a vote in this week’s NAIA top 25 poll which puts the ‘Pack in a tie for 37th in the nation.
Be sure to follow Robert Lovaglio and company when they kick off the opening round of the SSAC tournament this Thursday at 1 p.m. CST. They will await the winner of the William Carey and Emmanuel game this Wednesday at 12 p.m. CST.
