Wolfpack tennis falls in conference opener

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The men’s and women’s tennis teams
both fell to conference rival William Carey University on
Saturday in the teams’ first conference matches of the
season, 9-0.

On the women’s side, Claire Landry put up a tough fight,
falling to WCU’s Petra Pesic at the number one singles
slot, 6-1, 6-4. Landry and partner Katie Beargie also
battled, falling to William Carey’s number one doubles
team, 8-2.

For the men, Christian Manrubia took on Anton Ivanov at the
number four singles spot, falling 6-2, 6-1.

The teams return to action on March 5 in a double-header
against Belhaven and Tougaloo in Jackson, Miss. They take on
BU at 10 a.m. and TC at 2 p.m.
