The ‘Pack enter their fourth year under head coach Kellie Kennedy after a 20-12 campaign in her third season at the helm of the Wolfpack program. Loyola will feature a talented squad that showcases seven underclassmen and six veterans.
“We are very excited about beginning our season at St. Thomas in Houston,” said head coach Kellie Kennedy. “We have three players from the area including senior Keiva Council and Jasmine Brewer. It will be a nice homecoming for them as well as an opportunity for us to test ourselves against our fist opponent.”
Coach Kennedy welcomes back two seniors, two juniors, and two sophomores in addition to the highly touted crop of freshmen. Keiva Council and Amy Sprout, the two seniors, saw an exceptional amount of time on the court as juniors. Sprout was the only player to start and play in every single game from last season. Council ranked in the top 35 in the NAIA in five categories last season: 21st in total assists (140), 22nd in assists per game (4.375), 23rd in points per game (16.906), 23rd in total scoring (541), and 31st in free throw percentage (0.791). She was an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, WBCA All-American, and All-Conference team member.
Loyola returns home next week for a matchup against Florida Memorial on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. Fans can follow the ‘Pack on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/loyolawolfpack) and Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/loyolawolfpack).
