Women’s hoops set for clash with Belhaven

(New Orleans, La.) Loyola University New Orleans (8-10, 5-5) will face off against Belhaven University (8-12, 5-5) in a SSAC matchup on Saturday.  The matchup at The Den is scheduled for 2 p.m.The two teams are tied for fourth in the Western Division along with Spring Hill.  

Loyola is 1-1 in their last two games.  The Wolf Pack defeated Spring Hill, 60-57, in their match up on Saturday that also served as Loyola’s Hall of Fame game.  The Wolf Pack traveled to #22Faulkner University for a midweek game, but fell to the Lady Eagles, 62-51 on Thursday..  

Jasmine Brewer moved into sixth place on the school’s all-time after scoring six points against Faulkner.  The junior forward leads the team with 16.4 points per game and 8.9 rebounds.  She is third in the conference in scoring, sixth in rebounds, and fourth in field goal percentage at 52%.  Janeicia Neely is second on the team in scoring with 10.6 points per game while also averaging 4.4 assists per game which is fourth in the conference.  

The Wolf Pack will be facing off against a Blazer squad that is coming off a 63-55 victory over William Carey.  Prior to that victory Belhaven had lost three straight to Freed-Hardeman, Mobile, and Auburn-Montgomery.  

Ashley Wakefield leads the Blazers in scoring at 13.5 points per contest.  Erika Leflore is the only other player in double figures for Belhaven.  Leflore also leads the team with 8.5 rebounds per night, good for 10th in the SSAC.
