KANSAS CITY, Mo. The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team received 123 votes in this week’s NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, ranking the Wolfpack 20th nationally. The ‘Pack received 18 more votes than last week’s poll and moved up one spot in the rankings. The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. The next regular season Top 25 Poll will be announced on Feb. 13.
Loyola looks to make it five wins in a row after defeating conference rivals Mobile and Spring Hill on the road last week. Senior Keiva Council and sophomore Jasmine Brewer led the ‘Pack scoring a combined 81 points on the week.
Loyola is currently 19-2 overall and 11-2 in conference play, which still marks the best start in the program’s history. The ‘Pack ranks nationally in the NAIA in a remarkable 14 categories, including No. 1 in field goal percentage (48.6) for over two and a half months straight. Loyola also ranks in the top 10 in three more categories: 4th in three-point field goal percentage (34.8), 5th in scoring offense per game (79.4), and 5th in scoring margin (17.9).
The ‘Pack looks to hit the 20 win mark this Wednesday, Feb. 8 heading to face cross-town rival University of New Orleans. Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m. CT in Lakefront Arena.
