KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team received 60 votes in this week’s NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, 28 more than the previous poll voted on Dec. 12. The Wolfpack is now ranked 27th nationally, moving up one spot. The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. The next regular-season Top 25 poll will be announced on Jan. 16.
Loyola is currently 13-1 overall and 5-1 in conference play, marking the best start in the program’s history. The ‘Pack ranks nationally in the NAIA in a remarkable 15 categories, including No. 1 in field goal percentage (48.8) for almost two months straight. Loyola also ranks in the top 10 three more categories: 4th three-point field goal percentage (37.0), 5th in scoring margin (20.4), and 6th in scoring offense per game (80.2).
The ‘Pack squares off against conference foe Spring Hill at home in The DEN Thursday, Jan. 10. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. CT. The game is part of the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight project which is a nationwide effort to identify basketball games between Jesuit schools and, through those games, bring a greater positive awareness to Jesuit education and mission. The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) developed this project in response to member institutions wanting to spread the word of Jesuit higher education through more than 90 basketball games in which Jesuit institutions play each other.
