KANSAS CITY, Mo. The Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team received 92 votes in this week’s NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, ranking the Wolfpack 23rd nationally for the second consecutive week. The ‘Pack received five more votes than last week’s poll, yet still ranks at 23. The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and independents. The next regular season Top 25 Poll will be announced on Jan. 30.
Loyola looks to rebound off a heartbreaking 76-70 loss at No. 18 Belhaven. The Wolfpack shot 50.9 percent from the floor (27-53) but only converted on 54.2 percent of its free throws (13-24).
Loyola is currently 15-2 overall and 6-2 in conference play, which still marks the best start in the program’s history. The ‘Pack ranks nationally in the NAIA in a remarkable 16 categories, including No. 1 in field goal percentage (48.4) for over two months straight. Loyola also ranks in the top 10 in three more categories: 4th in three-point field goal percentage (36.0), 6th in scoring offense per game (79.7), and 9th in scoring margin (17.6).
