NEW ORLEANS, La. – Sophomore guard Amy Moody scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Loyola University New Orleans women’s basketball team (3-0) to a 73-50 win over the Dillard Bleu Devils (0-2) on Monday evening from Dent Arena.

Senior forward Keiva Council added 14 points and five rebounds, while freshman Janeicia Neely came close to a double-double with 13 points and a career-best nine assists. Sophomore Jasmine Brewer contributed with eight points, and junior Megen Berner had seven points to balance the ‘Pack’s scoring attack. Brewer also pulled down five rebounds and had three steals.

“I thought we overcame some things, like foul trouble,” said head coach Kellie Kennedy. “We really came out and focused in the second half. We played better defense and shot the ball very well”

The Wolfpack held Dillard to 46 percent shooting (19/52) on the evening, including just 27.6 percent (8/29) in the second half. Additionally, the ‘Pack defense forced 15 turnovers, turning those into 20 points.

The ‘Pack got off to an 8-0 run in the first 5 minutes of play. Dillard scored their first basket almost six minutes into the first half. Both teams traded baskets for the next 10 minutes or so until the score was 24-17 with 4:42 left in the half. The Bleu Devils gained some momentum and stormed on an 8-0 run to go ahead 25-24 with a minute remaining. A last second shot by Megen Berner pulled the Wolfpack ahead at the half 28-27.
Loyola came out and forced two Bleu Devil turnovers in which the ‘Pack capitalized on with a 10-2 run in the first five minutes in the second half. Amy Moody knocked down two key 3-pointers to put the ‘Pack up by nine at the 14:45 mark.

From there Loyola was able to expand upon their lead doubling their first half points with 5:10 left in the game. The Wolfpack seized control and never let up taking the game 73-50.
