Loyola baseball signs three

New Orleans, La. – Loyola head baseball coach Gerald Cassard has announced the signings of Richard Dempsey, Justin Romaire, and Chris May for his 2009 recruiting class.

Richard Dempsey, a native of River Ridge, played baseball at Jesuit and posted a 3.88 ERA as a senior. Dempsey, an honor roll student, will study business management/ communications at Loyola.

Chris May, out of Baton Rouge, attended The Dunham School were he lettered three years in baseball for the Tigers. A two-time All-District player, May finished his career with a .384 batting average with 51 RBI. While in high school, May was a member of the Key Club, Latin Club, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. May plans to major in business at Loyola.

Justin Romaire, from Marrero, attended John Ehret where he played baseball all four years. Romaire made All-District as a senior, finishing with an 8-2 record, 74 strikeouts, and a 2.01 ERA. He graduated magna cum laude from Ehret with a 4.456 GPA, and will study biochemistry/pre-med at Loyola.
