Kansas City, Mo. - The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team received a vote in the NAIA Volleyball Top 25 Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released on Tuesday.
Last year, in head coach Tommy Harold's sixth season, the Wolfpack went 17-9 and won a share of the GCAC regular season title. Loyola returns four starters, including All-GCAC sophomore Gina Gill. Gill was phenomenal in her freshman season, where she led the conference in kills (3.8 kpg) and was named Freshman of the Year.
"We are back working hard in the gym, and while the poll is a flattering reflection of the success we have had in the past, we know that our focus has to be on improvement," said Coach Harold. "Our players are busy perfecting the process of learning our system, and our main focus is simply to get a little better each day."
Conference rival University of Mobile is listed at No. 23 in the preseason poll. Three other schools the Wolfpack are scheduled to play; Freed-Hardeman, Union University, and St. Thomas (TX), also received votes.
Loyola's season starts on September 4th when they travel to Jackson, Mississippi for the Millsaps Tournament. Their first match is against Union University at 3 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. match with Rhodes College.
