New Orleans, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team hosted #19 University of West Florida on Friday evening at The Den, and were defeated 3-1.
Loyola looked impressive in the beginning, winning the first game 25-15. Sophomore Lindsay Mullinix paced Loyola’s attack, scoring on all five of her kill attempts.
As good as the Wolfpack performed in the first set, West Florida (8-8) matched their play in the next two, taking both games by a score of 25-16.
In the final set, the Lady Argonauts held the lead for most of the game before Loyola rallied towards the end to tie it up. The Wolfpack went ahead 26-25 on a Gina Gill attack, but West Florida scored the next three points to take the match.
Gill led the Wolfpack with 17 kills for the match, with Mullinix adding 8. Freshman Samantha Worsham assisted 33 points, while Rachael Roth had five aces. Sophomore Amanda Oldani finished with 16 digs.
Loyola (7-5) returns to action at The Den on September 29 when they host Millsaps College. The Tuesday night non-conference match is set to start at 7 p.m. The Lady Majors beat the Wolfpack earlier this season, 3-2.
