Loyola volleyball comes up short against Millsaps, 3-2

New Orleans, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team looked to avenge an earlier loss to Millsaps College on Tuesday night, but could not put the Majors away, losing once again, 3-2.

After dropping the first game 21-25, Loyola made easy work of the Majors, taking the next two sets 25-13. In the fourth set, after a closely contested battle that saw several lead changes, Millsaps came out with a 29-27 win. In the deciding fifth set, the Majors controlled the game from the start, and would go on to win 15-9 to take the match.

Gina Gill, who was recently named GCAC Hitter of the Week, led the Wolfpack with 18 kills. Gill also finished the night with 16 digs and two aces. Rachael Roth had 11 kills and four aces, while Lindsay Mullinix tallied nine kills. Samantha Worsham, who garnered GCAC Setter of the Week, assisted 41 Loyola points. Amanda Oldani rounded out the leaders with 17 digs.

For Millsaps (7-8), Kate Hall paced the attack with 13 kills. Mallory Clark led the Majors with 12 digs.

Loyola (7-6) gets back into conference play this Friday (Oct. 2) at The Den when they host the SUNO Lady Knights at 7 p.m. The Wolfpack defeated SUNO earlier this season, 3-0, at The Castle.
