Loyola’s Brock Named Sporting News Pre-Season All-American Honorable Mention, ‘Pack Team to Watch

New Orleans, La.- The Sporting News named Loyola’s Ryan Brock NAIA Pre-Season All-American Honorable Mention and tapped the Wolfpack as a “possible breakthrough” team for 2009-10.
Brock, a junior forward from New Orleans, was Loyola’s top scorer in 2008-09 averaging 19.9 points. Brock scored 578 points for the year, which ranked fifth at Loyola for a single season. Along with being named All-GCAC and GCAC Newcomer of the Year, Brock also received an All-American honorable mention and was named second team All-Louisiana. The Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches named Brock Louisiana Small College Player of the Year.
Loyola is coming off their second straight winning season after going 19-11 in 2008-09. The 19 victories are the most in 50 years for the men’s basketball program. The Wolfpack also went 12-6 in the GCAC which is a team best since joining the conference.
Loyola, picked third in the GCAC’s pre-season coaches poll, opens the 2009-10 campaign on Oct. 30 against Carver Bible College in The Den. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m.
