Loyola’s Harper named GCAC Runner of the Week

Hattiesburg, Miss. – Kieran Harper, a freshman runner for the Loyola men’s cross country team, was named GCAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending October 11, 2009. Harper becomes the first member of the cross country teams to garner the award this season.
The men’s team ran the 8k in the Watson Ford Invitational on Oct. 10, and Harper led the way with a time of 30:08. He placed 25th overall in the meet, and was only 55 seconds behind his personal best. Harper, hailing from Kings Park, New York, has been the men’s team top finisher in every meet this season.
The Loyola cross country teams will have the upcoming weekend off before running in the University of Mobile Invitational on Oct. 24.
