Trio of Wolfpack Volleyball Players Take Home Conference Weekly Honors

New Orleans, La.- Loyola volleyball players Gina Gill, Amanda Oldani and Samantha Worsham have been named the GCAC’s Hitter, Libero and Setter of the Week respectively for the week ending October 25th.
Gill, a 5-10 sophomore outside hitter from St. Michael the Archangel High School in Baton Rouge, tallied 74 kills in four matches during the week in 161 total attacks for a .323 hitting percentage. She also amassed 38 defensive digs, ten service aces and nine total blocks (2 solo, 7 assists) in those four matches. This is Gill’s third GCAC Hitter of the Week award of the 2009 season.
Oldani, a 5-7 sophomore libero/defensive specialist from New Braunfels High School in New Braunfels, Texas, had 61 defensive digs in the four matches and three aces in 15 total service attempts. She also held a .911 reception percentage in those four matches. This is Oldani’s first Libero of the Week award this season.
Worsham, a 5-7 freshman setter from Mother McAuley High School in Chicago, Illinois, amassed 150 assists in the four matches. She also dropped in 14 kills on 38 total attempts, a .289 attack percentage, and had seven service aces and six total blocks (2 solo, 4 assists) during the week which Loyola completed with a 2-2 record. This is Worsham’s second Setter of the Week award of 2009.
The Wolfpack close out their home slate tonight with a match against Jesuit rival Spring Hill College. Opening serve between the Wolfpack and Lady Badgers is set for 7 pm in The Den.
