Tommy Harold
Head Coach
Tommy Harold enters his seventh year as head coach at Loyola University New Orleans. In six years as the Wolfpack head coach, Harold has amassed a 111-64 (.634) record. His teams have won 20 or more matches in each of his four full seasons at the helm of Loyola’s volleyball team. Last season, Loyola split the regular season title with Mobile, and finished with 17 wins.
The team earned its first GCAC championship of his tenure, the program’s fifth overall, in 2007 when the Wolfpack knocked off the Mobile Rams in the finals of the tournament.
While his teams have excelled on the court, the Wolfpack volleyball team has also been exceptional in the classroom. In each semester of his tenure, the Wolfpack grade point average has exceeded a 3.0. Last year’s club was recognized by the AVCA with a team academic award for having a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. Loyola also had three players named to the NAIA Scholar Athlete list.
Harold prepped at Jesuit High School in New Orleans. He graduated from Randolph Macon College in 1997 with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry.
In May 2004, Harold earned his master’s of business administration from the University of New Orleans.
Harold also serves as a head coach in the Cajunland Volleyball Club. This January, he will be heading into his twelth season with the organization.
Nine of his club teams have finished in the top ten at the USA Volleyball and AAU National Championships as well as qualifying teams in the Open Division.
In 2003, Harold led his Cajunland team to the silver medal at the AAU Championships in Orlando, Florida.
In 2001, his Cajunland team finished second at the USAVChampionships.
Harold has experience at the NCAA Division I level as a coach as well as a player. He served as an assistant coach at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas for the 1997 and 1998 seasons. He was also a member of the TCU men’s club team. Harold played Division I volleyball at St. Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania, where he was a setter and a defensive specialist for the Red Flash.
